Placement test

To succeed on the TEF Canada exam, you need a strong foundation in French, ideally reaching a B1 level (CLB 4-5). A common mistake is taking the exam too soon without this base, which often leads to failure. Reaching a B1 level may require between 350 and 400 hours of study.

To ensure you have sufficient proficiency in French, we ask you to take our Placement test for TEF preparation courses first. This will help us place you in the appropriate level group.

Results:

  • 0-20 points: You are not eligible for the TEF preparation courses.
  • 21-36 points: Intermediate group (A2+/B1+)
  • 37-48 points: Advanced group (B2-C2)
