The Santé course (prerequisite: intermediate 102) is intended primarily to help the learner in the area of reception and care of patients in the department, that is to say to ask questions about their symptoms, educate them about procedure and care and of course, be able to answer all of their questions. In this class, different vocabulary themes are discussed such as symptoms, medical equipment, different health services, but also the grammar necessary to be fully functional in French and to serve patients as well as possible. The course also helps the healthcare professional to obtain an optimal level of communication with their patients as well as with their colleagues and superiors. In this class, the vocabulary themes vary according to the professions of each one in order to be as close as possible to reality.

These courses are to be completed during the 10-week session. Students are expected to complete the weekly module through Moodle, and schedule a 30-minute check-in meeting with the teacher each week. Students will be able to choose the time of the meeting.

The Office of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie, with funding from the Canada-N.S. Agreement on French-language services, is covering the course fee for a certain number of participants from the government of Nova Scotia.
