Maigret Mysteries with Wafa Elhajj
The famous French detective created by writer Georges Simenon is back at Sainte-Anne, joined by teacher Wafa Elhajj.
This 22.5-hour, 10-week course is ideal for students at the Advanced level who enjoy reading in French as well as, bien sûr, a little mystery in their lives.
This class is offered online so that all would-be sleuths will have equal access to Maigret and the murky mayhem that constitutes his world.
The 2.25-hour weekly class will transport students to France as well as other locales.
Join Maigret, and with the aid of Wafa, help him unlock his latest mystery.
Curriculum
Each session, a different book involving the Parisian policeman is presented in a fun format that encourages students to use their French and whodunit skills. Vocabulary, discussions and hands-on language skills are seamlessly incorporated. Perfectionnement 102 level is required.
Frequency
This 10-week program is offered four times yearly.
*Weekly online classes take place on Wednesdays, from 09:00-11:15 a.m.

Please Note:
Registration Policy
Registration for the session is on a first come, first served basis. Your application must be complete for it to be processed fully. If your application is not complete, there will be delays in processing it, which may result in you not obtaining a spot in the session, even if you already paid for the course. To ensure that your application is processed correctly, you must complete the placement test (both the written and oral components) prior to registering in the session, so that you know which level you can register for.
If you register before having completed both parts of the test, and you aren’t able to complete the test before the session starts, resulting in not having a placement in time, then we will cancel your registration and reimburse you the tuition fee, with a $20 administrative fee.
Please note that test times do fill up quickly.
Your registration in the session is only confirmed once you have received an email with the subject line “Confirmation of your registration – {Level} – {Day} – {Time} – Online”.
Attendance Policy
Students are allowed to miss as many as 3 classes (or 6 classes in the accelerated program) per session. If you miss more than 3, a one-time only make-up class, in a course of the same or a similar level, can be offered. It is the student’s responsibility to keep track of how many classes they have missed.
Refund and Cancellation Policy
You can cancel your registration, with a $20 administration fee, until 9 a.m. on the second Monday of the session. After that date, we will not accept cancellations.
Holidays
There will be no class on Tuesday, July 1, Monday, August 4 or Monday, September 1. To make up for the Tuesday class, 15 minutes will be added to each Tuesday class. To make up for the Monday classes, 15 minutes will be added to each Monday class, and there will be an additional class on September 8th.
